How can losing your best player be a good thing?

If you know me, you know I am a big fan of radio — especially sports radio. In college, I was an intern at XTRA Sports 690 in San Diego and I still really enjoy sports radio. If I’m on the road by myself, I’ll choose Jim Rome or the Loose Canons or Petros and Money over music most of the time.
Today, I heard an interesting commercial today on ESPN 1280. While their website has yet to confirm it, the commercial announced that KSBY Sports Anchor Bill Halter will be hosting a Thursday evening high school football show.
In high school, we would get to someone’s house quickly after the game to watch (and tape) the competing KEYT and KSBY high school scoreboard shows. It was the “thing to do.” While at XTRA in college, I had the opportunity to contribute to Coach John Kentera’s Friday night high school scoreboard show and I think that, especially for a community like ours, a local high school show is great.
I have been impressed by Bill Halter’s play-by-play during Cal Poly vs. UCSB basketball games. I think Halter on the radio will be a nice change of pace and I think the high school show is something I’ll listen to.
