The Yankees went 19-10 during that time. If they wanted to make a change for the playoffs, they should have made that lineup change beforehand. I’m all for using stats, but baseball stats tend to even out. They never gave ARod or Granderson (whose exclusion was probably more egregious than Rodriguez) a chance to come back to the mean… By the time you get to the last month of the season plus the playoffs, you better have your key guys set or else you’re in trouble. The Yankees proved they were in trouble…

Total lack of research. Maybe girardi did screw up, but to call arod a star is a mistake. He had 5 home runs over 224 abs. In his last 83, he was hitting .203 with a double and one RBI. That happened on September 16th. And he was batting third. Those numbers are completely atrocious.
